KIMO FURUMOTO serves as Music Director and Conductor of the Huntington Symphony Orchestra (West Virginia). He is also Music Director of the Cal-State Fullerton University Symphony Orchestra and Opera Theater. Previously, he was Director of Orchestral Activities and Chair of the String Division at Ohio University, and Music Director of the Concert Orchestra at the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music. As Associate Conductor of the Cincinnati Philharmonia Orchestra he conducted a concert at the critically acclaimed Mass-in-Concert series held at New York's Lincoln Center in conjunction with the Mozart Bicentennial.
After completing a position as Conducting Assistant with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Furumoto was invited to return as a guest assistant conductor, and served as Associate Conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra. He also served as the Assistant Conductor of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and Assistant Conductor of the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra (California). He has appeared as guest conductor with orchestras both in the United States and Europe, and has worked with noted conductors such as Leonard Bernstein and Robert Shaw. Furumoto holds degrees in conducting from Chapman University and the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music.
