Peter Stanley Martin has a true passion for the art of conducting and is a student of aesthetics. He has received numerous outstanding reviews in past concert performances conducting student and semi-professional ensembles. His studies also encompass attending various conducting seminars including those with Jerry Junkin and H. Robert Reynolds. Raised on Long Island, Mr. Martin became a self-taught clarinetist and ventured into learning the bass clarinet, which would then become his primary instrument. Throughout his performing career he has had the honor of performing with notable musicians such as Stanley and Naomi Drucker, as well as being involved in the world premieres of close to a dozen works.

Following his passion for conducting, and a particular fondness for wind band repertoire, Mr. Martin enrolled in the music education program at Hofstra University, where he studied wind band conducting with Peter Boonshaft and orchestral conducting with Christine Myers and Laurie Friedman. Mr. Martin graduated magna cum laude with High Honors in Music for his thesis, The Bass Clarinet and its Usage in 19th Century Symphonic Works, and was granted membership into the prestigious music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda. After graduating, knowing the arts also flourished outside of Long Island, Mr. Martin ventured to California and studied briefly with Robert Halseth at California State University at Sacramento before returning to New York to teach both privately and in the classroom.

In 2004 he took a position at the renowned G. Schirmer, Inc. and Associated Music Publishers (AMP) in New York, where he is currently the Assistant Editor and Production Associate. Collaborating with such contemporary masters as John Corigliano, Richard Danielpour, Karel Husa, Joan Tower, John Harbison, and Peter Lieberson enables Mr. Martin to have a very unique view on conducting new works as well as masterpiece classics of the repertoire.
