INTERNATIONAL CONDUCTOR WORKSHOP

January 10 - 15, 2020
Fort Wayne, Indiana
Maestro Ennio Nicotra
Maestro Andrew Constantine

The Conductors Guild joins with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic to present an International Conductor Training Workshop designed to provide 8 conductors, and 4 auditor conductors instruction on the principles and techniques of one of the most celebrated conducting teachers of the Twentieth Century, Maestro Ilya Musin.

One participating conductor will be selected to conduct a Ft. Wayne Phiharmonic Chamber concert during the 2021-2022 season.

Participating conductors may also apply for the Thelma A. Robinson Scholarship awarded annually to a Conductors Guild workshop participant.

The workshop’s schedule will include a combination of extensive orchestral rehearsal sessions, with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, two pianos, plus individual lessons, and a concluding public performance on Wednesday, January 15, 2020.

Please read more and view Maestro Musin in previous masterclasses: https://www.musinsociety.com/ "Ilya Musin, the legendary teacher at whose school Rudolf Barshai, Arnold Katz, Vassily Sinaisky, Valery Gergiev, Ennio Nicotra, Yuri Temirkanov, Semyon Bychkov, Andrew Constantine, Konstantin Simeonov, Victor Fedotov, Martin Brabbins and many others studied."

Deadline for application is 12-2-19

Ennio Nicotra, a former student of Musin, works with conductors around the globe. Applicants may enjoy watching this YouTube video representing a day of instruction with Maestro Nicotra: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FraPJZorltI "Broadcast by SKY TV and a winner of numerous awards, in his film "Play" the director Massimo d'Anolfi describes a day of lessons in the class of Ennio Nicotra. The great work of analysis and attention to detail that precedes the moment in which the students will have to deal with the orchestra. Among the students with a certain surprise, we note the famous Italian pianist Antonio Ballista."

Past workshop participants have said the Fort Wayne-Conductors Guild workshop with Nicotra is a "game-changer".
