Member Bio Violinist/fiddler Cady Finlayson holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from the Mannes College of Music in New York City. She also studied at the University of Wyoming as a recipient of the Walter Scharf Memorial Music Scholarship, and at the University of Limerick in Ireland, where she studied traditional Irish fiddle. Ms. Finlayson has performed at such distinguished venues as Carnegie Hall, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, the Jacob Javits Center, the Blackstone Valley Celtic Festival, the McPherson Scottish Festival, and the Brooklyn Museum of Art, to name just a few. Her 20 years of teaching experience includes teaching positions at the Third Street Music School in New York City, New York City public schools, and 15 years as a strings instructor at the United Nations International School, where she is currently a member of the faculty. She holds certifications in The Suzuki Method, the Mark O’Connor Method, and from the Carnegie Hall Music Educators Workshop.

Member Bio Nell Flanders’ conducting credits include performances with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, The Chelsea Symphony, Mannes Orchestra at Alice Tully Hall, the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, and the Riverside Orchestra. She served as a cover conductor for JoAnn Falletta and the Buffalo Philharmonic during the 2014-15 season and was the assistant conductor at Peabody Opera Theater during 2016-17. An enthusiastic proponent of contemporary music, Ms. Flanders has conducted many orchestral premieres with groups such as Mannes American Composers Ensemble, The Secret Opera Company, Peabody’s Now Hear This, and The Chelsea Symphony. In May 2016 she conducted the premiere of Jochem Le Cointre’s opera Steppenwolf. Deeply committed to educating the next generation of musicians and music lovers, Ms. Flanders is on the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division where she conducts the Repertory Orchestra, teaches conducting classes and violin lessons, and coaches chamber music. Since 2016, Ms. Flanders has been the conductor and music director of the advanced orchestra of the Campamento Musical Juvenil of the Asociacion Nacional de Conciertos in Panama City, Panama. She is currently teaching the Conducting I class at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and she maintains a private violin studio in New York City. Previous positions include teaching violin lessons and string pedagogy and coaching chamber music at the University of Chicago, Vandercook College of Music, Utah State University, and Hoff-Barthelson Music School. In 2015, she was a teaching assistant at the New School for the course, “Music and Mind.” As a violinist, Ms. Flanders has performed concerti with The Chelsea Symphony and the Philharmonisch Orkest Mozart in Amsterdam. Her orchestral work includes performances with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and Chicago Opera Theater among many others. A musician of great versatility, she plays in many genres including classical, baroque, blues, and contemporary, with ensembles including Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues, Dorian Baroque, Pocket Opera Players, and the University of Chicago Piano Trio. A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory with a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance and a minor in piano performance, Ms. Flanders also received a Master of Music degree in orchestral conducting from Mannes College of Music. She is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in orchestral conducting with Marin Alsop at the Peabody Conservatory. In addition to her musical work, Nell enjoys rock climbing, dancing Argentine tango, and exploring other cultures through travel and language study.

Member Bio Adam Flatt, conductor, enjoys a busy and versatile musical presence in three different regions of the United States. He serves as Music Director of the Colorado Ballet, the Newport Symphony (the Oregon coast’s professional orchestra) and the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra. His prominent presence in the musical life of Colorado extends back many years. When Marin Alsop invited him to join the Colorado Symphony as Associate Conductor in 2001, he began a five-year tenure during which he conducted over 250 performances with the orchestra, including classical subscription, parks, outreach, special event performances, and live broadcasts for radio and television. He created and hosted family and educational concerts that reached tens of thousands of children and families in the region. Mr. Flatt also served a highly acclaimed tenure as Music Director of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra from 2001-2007, and returned many summers to lead productions with Emerald City Opera, a festival in Steamboat Springs. Adam is well-known for his inspiring work with music students at the highest level. He serves on the faculty of Curtis Summerfest and the Rocky Ridge Music Center. He has previously held positions with two of America’s most prominent youth orchestras: the Portland Youth Philharmonic and the Denver Young Artists Orchestra, and recently served a residency with the Landes-Jugend-Sinfonie-Orchester Saar. He has led performances with many excellent university and conservatory orchestras. Mr. Flatt’s professional career began as Apprentice Conductor to the Oregon Symphony and Music Director James DePreist. Adam Flatt has guest conducted the orchestras of Alabama, Cheyenne, Dallas, Delaware, Houston, Lubbock, Midland, Missoula, Monterey, Oregon, Sacramento, Saint Louis, San Juan, Santa Rosa, South Carolina, and many others. He has led performances with the major ballet companies of Portland and Salt Lake City as well as that of Denver. He has led productions for Colorado Light Opera, Eugene Opera, and Colorado Symphony collaborations with Central City Opera and Opera Colorado. Adam Flatt has his bachelor’s degree with honors in music from the University of California at Berkeley, and his master’s degree in conducting from the Indiana University School of Music. He studied music for two years in Austria and Germany, and studied at the Aspen Music Festival.

Member Bio The internationally lauded conductor Richard Fletcher, known for the animated intensity of his interpretations, has led orchestras and opera companies throughout the United States, Europe, and South America. His performances have drawn praise from critics, including from The New York Times, which described him as being one of the “most thoughtful conductors around today.” La Nazione of Florence marveled at the “extraordinary quality of sound he drew from the orchestra,” and the Salzburger Volksblatt called him “a born conductor of great intensity.” In North America he has conducted the New York Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony, New York City Opera, New York City Ballet, Vancouver Symphony, Houston Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, Buffalo Philharmonic, Syracuse Symphony, Juilliard Orchestra, Chicago Civic Orchestra (at the invitation of Sir Georg Solti, who described him as "a most talented conductor"), and the Music Today Ensemble of New York, among others.

Member Bio A recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activity, Maestro Gerard Floriano serves as the department of music chair and director of choral activities at SUNY Geneseo. Outside of Geneseo, he maintains a busy schedule as artistic director, music director, and guest conductor, having led numerous concerts throughout Europe and the United States. Member Bio Nicolò Umberto Foron is currently the Assistant Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra. In March 2023, he won first prize in the “Donatella Flick” Conducting Competition, following his victory in the International Conducting Competition “Jeunesse Musicales” in Bucharest in 2021. He was chosen as a Tanglewood Conducting Fellow in 2022 and selected for Peter Eötvös’s Mentoring Programme. He was also part of the Forum Dirigieren Deutsches Musikrat. At a young age, Nicolò began his education in conducting, composition, and piano, his first instrument. He studied piano with K. H. Kämmerling and A. Ugorski. At the age of 10, he became a pupil of Jorma Panula and was subsequently invited by Bernard Haitink to participate in his masterclasses at the Lucerne Festival. At 16, Nicolò began his formal conducting studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, followed by a master’s degree at the Royal College of Music and an Advanced Diploma in Performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London, from which he graduated in 2021. He continues to perform as a concert pianist and chamber musician, collaborating frequently with his younger sister, violinist Mira Foron. In recent seasons, Foron has conducted various orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, Mendelssohn Academy/Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, Staatskapelle Weimar, Opéra National de Montpellier, Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, and the Tanglewood Festival Orchestra. He has also assisted several distinguished conductors, including Sir Antonio Pappano, Andris Nelsons, Matthias Pintscher, Sir Mark Elder, Daniele Gatti, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Martyn Brabbins, and Trevor Pinnock. This season, Nicolò gives concerts with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI di Torino, Philharmonisches Orchester des Theaters Freiburg, Opéra National de Lorraine, Orchestre National d’Île-de-France, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, and Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, as well as a concert at the Elbphilharmonie with Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. Future engagements include conducting the SWR Symphonieorchester, Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, Bremen Philharmoniker, Göttinger Symphonieorchester, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Arktisk Filharmoni, Euskadiko Orchestra, and Odense Symfonieorkester. He also makes his debut at the Vienna Konzerthaus with the Wiener Kammerorkester. In 2025, Nicolò will embark on various tours, including one with the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra and Viktoria Mullova, one with Ensemble Intercontemporain, and another with the Arktisk Filharmoni, featuring concerts at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and Die Glocke Bremen. Nicolò Foron has a diverse repertoire that includes many world premieres, developed through his close collaboration with Ensemble Intercontemporain. In addition to his extensive symphonic repertoire, he has conducted several opera productions, including semi-staged performances of The Marriage of Figaro (Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy), Hansel and Gretel (Staatskapelle Weimar), the operetta Jettchen Gebert by Walter Kollo (Musikalische Komödie Leipzig), and three world premiere opera productions written by Dutch composers. During the “lockdown” period, Nicolò Foron conducted the Noord Netherlands Orchestra in a livestream and CD recording, which included the world premiere of the Cello Concerto by Jan Peter de Graaff at Tivoli Vredenburg, Utrecht. The CD of this concert was nominated among the five finalists for the Preis der Deutschen Schallplatten Kritik in January 2022. In August 2023, Deutschlandfunk named him Artist in Residence for the Förderpreis Deutschlandfunk at the Musikfest Bremen, recognizing him as the year’s outstanding young artist. As part of this award, he gave a concert and recorded a CD with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin in 2024, which will be released by Deutsche Gammophon in spring 2025. His past concerts with the London Symphony Orchestra have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, and his recent concert with Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Ensemble Intercontemporain was broadcast on ARTE and Radio France.
