Member Bio Each stage in the odyssey of my life took me further south. I grew up in Croydon, a suburb of London. In 1983, I moved to Brussels. Then in 1987, to Switzerland, first Embrach, then Winterthur (1991), Wallisellen (1994), Girenbad (1996) and currently Zürich (2008). Croydon has around 330 000 inhabitants, Girenbad around 290, and Zurich around 410 000. I have been happily married to Jacqueline for the last 25 years. Since the deaths of my father Les in 2001 and mother Vera in 2003, I am the head of this branch of the Christie dynasty that Seán (24) and Áedán (23) will hopefully carry on. Since the end of 2008, we live in Wiedikon, one of the central districts of Zurich, only fifteen minutes by tram from the Central Station and Paradeplatz. I enjoy our house a lot, and now also own the atelier behind the house which is used for rehearsals, seminars and parties and now houses a small grand piano. Music plays an important part in my life. I play the viola (modern and baroque), and piano (mostly accompanying). I have also regularly conducted orchestras, operetta and occasionally choirs, and sung (baritone/tenor 2) in choirs. From 1991 until 1999, I conducted the Orchestergesellschaft Winterthur. Since 2001, I also conducted various choral and other groups under the name musicmakers and between mid 2009 and January 2017, I rejoiced in the title of Sonntagskantor at the Prediger-Kirche in Zürich, which involved rehearsing the hymns with interested members of the congregation once a month. I also sang bass in the Kantorei zu Predigern, which kept me busy with many church services and concerts, both in Zurich and Berne. Since 2017, I now sing in the ensemble vocativ in Zürich.
