Member Bio Maestro Kimo Furumoto has recently joined the faculty of California State University - Fullerton. Prior to joining the faculty at the Fullerton campus, Furumoto served as Orchestra Director and Music Director for the Opera Theatre at the Ohio University School of Music. He has served as the Assistant Conductor of the Lyric Mountain Festival for the Performing Arts and as Assistant Conductor of the Lexington Philharmonic. His guest conductor appearances include the Chapman Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and the Kurpfalzisches Kammerorchester of Mannheim, Germany. Maestro Furumoto has also served as Music Director of the Concert Orchestra at the University of Cincinnati, College- Conservatory of Music. During his tenure, he conducted a concert at the critically acclaimed Mass-in-Concert series held at New York's Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in conjunction with the Mozart Bicentennial. After completing a one-year intern position as Conducting Assistant with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in 1988, he was invited to return as guest assistant conductor. In addition, he has served as Associate Conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra and Assistant Conductor of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra with Boston Pops conductor, Keith Lockhart. Kimo Furumoto holds conducting degrees from Chapman University and the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. He has studied under Leonard Bernstein, Robert Shaw, Gerhard Samuel and John Koshak.

Member Bio Alison holds a Doctoral degree in orchestral conducting from the University of Kansas, Lawrence and a Master’s degree from U.S.C., Los Angeles in bass performance. Her professional conducting experience includes music director positions, assistant conductor positions, has been a conductor of youth symphonies, and has guest conducted various professional groups including 10 years as conductor of Brass Night and on various chamber concerts at the Breckenridge, CO summer music festival. Her academic conducting experience includes a year as interim Director of Orchestra at Iowa State and for Rock Valley College, IL and for 4 years as conductor of the chamber orchestra at Illinois’ largest college, the College of DuPage. In addition, she has served as a clinician and guest conductor for music associations throughout the Midwest and for the Chicago Bass Festival. During her doctoral studies she received assistantships from both the orchestral and jazz departments where she worked and studied with British conductor, keyboardist and recording artist Brian Priestman and with jazz educator, arranger and composer Dan Gailey. She has also received fellowships and won positions for conducting seminars through the League of American Orchestras, Chorus America, the Conductor’s Institutes in South Carolina (in opera) and at Bard College, NY. Her performance experience as a bassist includes serving full-time as principal in Tulsa, OK (8 years), a Tanglewood fellowship, an Aspen Music Festival scholarship, was co -principal with the National Repertory Orchestra for 2 summers and won a substitute audition with the St. Louis Symphony. She has also performed chamber music in the United States and in Europe and has been a featured soloist with the National Repertory Orchestra, Tulsa Philharmonic, Breckenridge, CO Festival, and Rockford, IL Symphony.

Member Bio New Brunswick-born Juliane Gallant is the Resident Conductor of the Calgary Philharmonic. Since relocating to Canada from the UK in 2021, she has appeared as a guest conductor with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Victoria Symphony, PEI Symphony Orchestra, Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, Kingston Symphony Orchestra, and Symphony New Brunswick. She has also worked as an assistant and cover conductor with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, Regina Symphony Orchestra, and Kamloops Symphony Orchestra,. ​ A passionate collaborator, Juliane first trained as a collaborative pianist, répétiteur, and vocal coach, and began her conducting career in opera, leading productions throughout the UK for Gothic Opera (Le loup-garou/Le dernier sorcier), Hampstead Garden Opera (La bohème), King’s Head Theatre (Carmen, Tosca), Opera on Location (L’enfant prodigue, Cinderella, La Traviata, Don Giovanni, Carmen), St Paul’s Opera (Così fan tutte, Orphée aux enfers), Opera Upclose (Carmen, Music oft hath such a charm, Ulla’s Odyssey), and Opera MIO (A Fantastic Bohemian: The Tales of Hoffmann revisited). In London, She was selected for the first Women Conductors Course: Conducting for Opera, run by the Royal Opera House, the National Opera Studio, and the Royal Philharmonic Society, and has received continued support from the Royal Opera House throughout her training. Member Bio Dr. Thomas Gamboa holds a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA in Music Education and Performance in bassoon, a Master of Music in wind conducting from Northwestern University where he studied with Mallory Thompson, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in wind conducting from the University of Michigan where he studied with Michael Haithcock. He was a conductor for the United States Air Force Band where he held the rank of Captain and was stationed at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia and Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Dr. Gamboa taught at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati holding the position of Assistant Professor of Music and Assistant Director of Wind Studies. He is currently the Director of University Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts. At UW-Milwaukee, Dr. Gamboa will oversee all aspects of the band program, guide the graduate wind conducting area, and serve as conductor of the Wind Ensemble, the University’s premier wind band.

Member Bio Eric Garcia is Music Director of the Boise Philharmonic and Artistic Director and Conductor of the McCall Music Society SummerFest. Garcia previously served as Assistant Conductor of the Seattle Symphony, conducting subscription, education, pops, and community concerts. He served as producer for recordings on the Naxos label and conductor for Brandi Carlile’s acclaimed Columbia Records release: Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony. He has collaborated with such esteemed artists as Marvin Hamlisch, Herbie Hancock, Cirque de la Symphonie, Pink Martini, The Chieftains, Assad Brothers, and Indigo Girls. Garcia has served as Associate Conductor of the Eastern Music Festival and cover conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. He has served as guest conductor with Symphony New Hampshire, Oklahoma City Ballet, Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Octava Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Seattle, Philharmonia Northwest, Rainier Symphony, Northwest Festival Orchestra, Greensboro Ballet, Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, Northwest Boychoir, Pacific Youth Choir, Seattle Chamber Singers and Vocalpoint Seattle. An avid supporter of contemporary music, Garcia has collaborated with such esteemed composers as John Adams, Sergio Assad, George Crumb, Frank Ferko, David Lang, Lowell Lieberman, Nico Muhly, Eric Nathan, and Jay Alan Yim. In addition, Garcia has served as principal conductor at the Cortona Sessions for New Music in Cortona, Italy. Garcia was a member of the American Academy of Conducting at the Aspen Music Festival and School, where he studied with James Conlon, Nicholas Kraemer, Murry Sidlin, Leonard Slatkin and David Zinman. At Aspen, he worked with the Susan and Ford Schumann Center for Composition Studies and the Aspen Opera Theatre Center. Garcia was also a recipient of the Bruno Walter Foundation Scholarship at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, where he studied with Marin Alsop. His principal conducting teacher is Victor Yampolsky. Additional conducting teachers include Peter Bay, Dan Lewis, Gustav Meier, and Larry Rachleff.
