Member Bio Kevin Purcell is one of Australia’s most distinguished and awarded orchestral and opera conductors. Currently, Kevin serves as musical director for the Australian Discovery Orchestra – one of the world’s most innovative orchestral ensembles – whilst maintaining an active freelance career in the USA. He is represented worldwide by Francine Fletcher of Fletcher Associates, a media management company in London, UK. He originally studied conducting at the Moscow Conservatory with Gennady Rozhdestvensky (1992), with subsequent graduate conducting studies at the Janácek Academy of Music (JAMU) with Otakar Trhlík, culminating with a Masters degree in orchestral conducting at Bard College (NY) under the late Harold Farberman. Additionally, Kevin studied Opera conducting with British conductor and Glyndebourne music director, Myer Fredman. Awards include: Opera Australia Willem van Otterloo Scholarship (1993); Bellhouse Conducting Prize (Sydney, 1993); Australian Music Foundation in London Sir Charles Mackerras Prize (1995) and Tait Memorial Trust Award (London, U.K.,1996). Kevin has previously been the musical director of the original production of CATS at the New London Theatre and for the South Korean Premiere production. More recently Kevin has conducted WICKED at London’s Apollo Victoria theatre and was the originating musical director for the first national UK/Eire tour. As a composer of musicals, Kevin has worked with his long-time collaborator, book writer and lyricist Victor Kazan on Rebecca, The Stranger from Seville and Castle Gillian.

Member Bio Head of Conducting and London's Royal College of Music, Toby Purser’s combination of passion and intellect, poetry and drama led in 2019 to his work being nominated for an Olivier Award (Best New Opera Production - Britten The Turn of the Screw with ENO/Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) and an International Opera Award (Best Rediscovered Work - Stanford The Travelling Companion with New Sussex Opera). Founder of Conductors in Isolation, a forum to support and engage conductors around the world during Covid-19, this year also sees the launch of his new orchestral ensemble Sinfonia 1. As Musical Director of New Sussex Opera, Toby Purser conducts the recently released CD from the 2018 production of Stanford’s The Travelling Companion, now available on Somm Célest. He is founding Musical Director of the Vienna Opera Festival and Academy, launched in Summer 2019 and for whom he will conduct Don Giovanni this Summer. His inspirational music-making has prompted guest invitations from English National Opera (where he completed two seasons as ENO Mackerras Conducting Fellow), Bampton Classical Opera, Chelsea Opera Group, Grange Park Opera, Opera della Luna and Pimlico Opera, as well as the Royal Philharmonic and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras and regular concerts for Raymond Gubbay Ltd. Since 2019, Toby Purser has been Principal Guest Conductor of the Orion Orchestra, which he founded in 2005 and developed into one of London's great orchestral successes, now recognised as a leading organisation for young musicians. Together they initiated the Alpha & Omega concert series, a Composers' Prize, a Young Conductors' Award and a Great Young Soloists series, as well as touring with them to Singapore as part of the Shaw Foundation’s ‘Ones to Watch’ Series. He was also awarded a prize by The Peace & You Movement in recognition of his cultural initiatives between the UK and Middle East, and for his work as Artistic Director of the Peace and Prosperity Trust.

Member Bio Ryan Putt separated from the Navy music program after eight years. He worked as a staff arranger the last three years of his career and was ultimately an enlisted conductor. He and his wife, Jennifer, relocated to Fort Worth, Texas. After moving around with the Navy, Ryan was happy to become a Texan and pursue teaching. He is currently the Associate Director of Bands at Dunbar High School and works as the Assistant Director of Bands at Jacquet Middle School. He teaches sixth grade beginning band, seventh and eighth grade brass methods, and teaches the high school band, also working with high school beginners.

Robert Quebbeman

Member Bio Robert Quebbeman is an emeritus professor at Missouri State University, where he served for almost thirty years as Director of Orchestral Activities and also the Director of Graduate Studies in Music. During his tenure he was the driving force behind establishing the Master of Music degree at the university, and he advised the students and taught in that degree program for twenty years. Along with being a principal professor in the conducting program, he developed and taught the graduate level course entitled “Score Reading and Analysis” for conductors. His textbook, Knowing the Score: A Comprehensive Approach to Analysis, grew out of that course and is published by GIA Publications. His second book, Symphonic Works Analyzed, is a reference work designed for conductors and libraries. A third book, Concertos Analyzed is in progress. Dr. Quebbeman received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in performance from The University of Michigan, and both the Master of Music degree in music history and Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Northern Illinois University. He studied conducting in master classes with maestros Herbert Blomstedt, Max Rudolf, and Elizabeth Green. He commissioned and premiered new works by composers such as Robert Jager, Jan Bach, and John Prescott, and he published articles on conducting. Active in state and national circles, Dr. Quebbeman continues to be a member of the College Orchestra Directors Association (CODA), the International Conductors Guild and was a member of the American Symphony Orchestra League, for which group he appeared on national panels in the United States and Canada. For twenty-five years he was the Music Director of various opera companies, and conducted renowned opera singers including Roberta Peters and Frank Guarrera, both from the Metropolitan Opera, and James Billings from the New York City Opera. Quebbeman was named the Collegiate Educator of the Year 2010 by the Missouri American String Teachers Association and was also a member of the Music Educators National Conference and Missouri Music Educators Association. While at Missouri State University, Dr. Quebbeman conducted the Missouri State Symphony Orchestra, which performed extensively during the school year. Under his direction, the orchestra was the featured group on a nationally televised broadcast of MENC’s “World’s Largest Concert” and performed at the 2010 National Convention of the College Orchestra Directors Association. The orchestra performed on numerous occasions at the Missouri Music Educators Association state conventions. In addition to the normal schedule of concerts, the Symphony Orchestra appeared yearly in the Music Department's production of the President’s Concert, a series which presented major works for combined soloists, chorus and orchestra. These included works like Mahler Symphony No. 8 “Symphony of a Thousand,” the Verdi Requiem, Orff Carmina Burana, and Berlioz Te Deum and Requiem.

Member Bio Since his Lincoln Center conducting debut in 1986, STEPHEN ROGERS RADCLIFFE has been recognized for his electrifying, musically acute performances, his passionate dedication to the nurturing of young talent and his innovative approach to audience development and artistic enrichment in the musical institutions with which he has served. For over a decade Maestro Radcliffe served as Music Director of both the Marrowstone Music Festival and the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras where his leadership raised the organizations to national prominence as America’s largest youth orchestra training programs. An artist, educator and scholar, Maestro Radcliffe was the Harry and Mildred Bemis Endowed Fellow in Musicology at Brandeis University, Director of Orchestra and Opera Programs at the University of Massachusetts, and Staff Conductor of the Boston Lyric Opera, Seattle Opera and Pacific Northwest Ballet. From 1987 to 1997 Mr. Radcliffe was the Music Director of the New York Chamber Ensemble, which appeared regularly at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, as well as on recordings, radio broadcasts and international tours. As Principal Guest Conductor of the Hungarian Virtuosi, Maestro Radcliffe performed at the Franz Liszt Academy and Pest Vigado in Budapest, as well as on international tours, radio and television broadcasts and recordings. Stephen Rogers Radcliffe is equally at home in the repertoire of symphony, ballet, opera and musical theater. For nearly a decade he conducted the Pacific Northwest Ballet, leading the company in its educational concerts and its NEXT STEP Choreographers Showcase performances. His work with the Seattle Opera includes three world premiere performances as part of the company’s “Our Earth” commissioning project and, in 2017, he returned to the Seattle Opera for performances of Aaron Copland’s “The Tender Land.” He has conducted the major operatic works of Puccini and Verdi, and has led “Opera in the Park” performances for thousands of music lovers in New York City. His Albany Records CD of operatic works by Gian Carlo Menotti, Douglas Moore and Paul Hindemith has been acclaimed in Gramophone and the American Record Guide. The roster of internationally acclaimed artists appearing in concert with Maestro Radcliffe is both distinguished and varied. Recent collaborations include performances with pianists Van Cliburn and Andre Watts; Metropolitan Opera stars Frederica von Stade, Dawn Upshaw, Susan Graham and Veronika Kinces, and pops artists the Moody Blues, Blood Sweat and Tears and P.D.Q Bach. Guest conducting has taken Stephen Rogers Radcliffe to leading orchestras throughout the United States, Canada, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latin America, Africa and China. Member Bio Sean Radermacher inspires musicians and audiences of all ages as a conductor, educator, and violinist. He serves as Director of Orchestral Studies at Slippery Rock University, Assistant Conductor with the Erie Philharmonic and Lakeside Symphony Orchestra, and regular Guest Conductor of the Pittsburgh Youth Concert Orchestra. Sean appeared repeatedly as Associate Conductor with Sunflower Music Festival and Assistant Conductor with Buzzards Bay Musicfest and Sault Ste. Marie Opera. In summer music festivals, Sean has collaborated with musicians of the Czech Philharmonic, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, Constanta State Opera (Romania), New Symphony Orchestra (Bulgaria), Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Boulder Chamber Orchestra, Cleveland Pops, Prague Summer Nights Orchestra, and Monteux Festival Orchestra. Sean earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Kentucky, where he served as Conductor of the UK Philharmonia and completed a dissertation, A History of Educational Concerts of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Sean earned a Master of Music in orchestral conducting at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He earned Bachelor and Master degrees in violin performance from Duquesne University. Robert Ragoonanan

Member Bio Robert S. Ragoonanan is a graduate of Luther College (B.A. in Music) and Bowling Green State University (M.M. in Orchestral Conducting). Robert has studied conducting with many well-known instructors such as Dr. Emily Freeman Brown, Alexander Polyanichko, Ovidiu Balan, Neil Thompson, Dr. Scott Weiss, and others, and keyboards with Frederick DeHaven, Dr. Laura Melton, Dr. John F. Strauss, and Dr. Jessica Paul. He has found success as a conductor across the United States and Europe, conducting orchestras, choirs, new music groups, and wind ensembles. In 2023 he was one of the recipients of the Advocate for Choral Excellence award from the Minnesota American Choral Directors Association, and he received Honorable Mention at the 2022 Orquestra de Camara de Cascais e Oerias Conducting Competition. Recent conducting work includes Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Rosephanye Powell’s Ogo ni fun oluwa, and Michael Barrett’s Indodana. In 2025, Robert conducted the Michigan premiere of Dominick DiOrio’s Weaver of Eternities, reviewed by the composer as an “outstanding performance”. Additionally, Robert recently finished an extensive recording project conducting Minnesota Orchestra and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra members, along with jazz instrumental and vocal soloists on a jazz/classical crossover album featuring the music of composer Ted Olsen. This critically-acclaimed album, Violette, is available now for purchase and on streaming services. Robert also is looking forward to conducting the premiere of Justin Rito’s Magnificat this December in Grand Rapids, MI with the Westminster Presbyterian Sanctuary Choir, Kirk Singers, soprano soloist Sarah Faasse, and chamber orchestra. Robert is also a sought-after collaborative pianist, harpsichordist, and voice coach, collaborating with various solo artists and ensembles. Recent performances include Snider’s The Currents, Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs, Maslanka’s Clarinet Concerto, and Nino Rota’s Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano. In addition, he has worked as a church music director and organist throughout the Midwest. Recent organ performances include Sharon Willis’ Ascension Suite, Bach’s O Lamm Gottes, unschuldig, BWV 656, Howells’ Sarabande for the Morning of Easter and Paean, and Naji Hakim’s Sonata for Trumpet and Organ. His recordings of Willis’ Agora Suite and Brooke Joyce’s Four Advent Meditations were broadcast nationally on MPR’s Pipedreams radio program in 2022 and 2024, respectively.
