Alexander Robinson

Member Bio Alex Robinson graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class degree in Music (MusB) and the Royal Northern College of Music with an MMus in Performance at Distinction level (Conducting). He studied under the student conductor program at Manchester University with Mark Heron & Justin Doyle (RIAS Kammerchor) and later with Clark Rundell at the RNCM. During his studies he was Musical Director for the University Music Society’s performances of Rameau’s ‘Castor & Pollux’ (2016), conducted Harrison Birtwistle’s ‘Silbury Air’ with the composer in attendance for the NewMusicNorthWest Festival in 2016 and worked with postgraduate composers in various new music projects at the RNCM and with ‘Psappha’. Alex concluded his studies in Manchester with a performance with the BBC Philharmonic and soloists on the RNCM’s International Artist Diploma (IAD) Program. Alex has been assistant conductor to Sir Mark Elder (Hallé Orchestra), Sir Andrew Davies (Royal Liverpool Philharmonic), Nicholas Collon & Juanjo Mena (BBC Philharmonic). He has also taken part in masterlasses with Sir Mark Elder, Johannes Schlaefli & James Lowe. Alex worked with leaders from the Manchester Camerata alongside the RNCM Chamber Orchestra for a performance of Beethoven’s First Symphony in December 2017. He was also Assistant conductor for Heritage Opera and the BBC Philharmonic’s premiere of Alan William’s ‘The Arsonists’. Recently, he has worked with the Allegra Festival Orchestra, Bulgaria, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Prague Philharmonia, CR and will be working with the London Classical Soloists in August 2021. The Amaretti Chamber Orchestra announced Alex Robinson as their new principal conductor from the 2020 season. He has also toured extensively with the Nottingham Youth Orchestra and has worked with Stockport Symphony Orchestra, Lancashire Chamber Orchestra, Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra and the Haffner Orchestra. Alex works regularly with professional vocal soloists and instrumentalists as a harpsichordist and répétiteur. Alex directed the RNCM Baroque Ensemble from the Harpsichord in 2018, performed with Pavlo Besnosiuk (Academy of Ancient Music), performed as a continuo player for the RNCM’s 2017 performance of Händel’s ‘Theodora’ and was Assistant Conductor and Répétiteur for Radius Opera’s performance of Tim Benjamin’s ‘The Fires of Olympus’ in 2019. Also in 2019, he made his harpsichord continuo debut with the Northern Chamber Orchestra and recorded an album with Lute & Viola da Gamba.

Geoffrey Robson

Member Bio Geoffrey Robson has emerged as a force of artistic leadership throughout the U.S. and the state of Arkansas. In 2017, he was awarded the Respighi Prize in Conducting by the Chamber Orchestra of New York. He currently serves as Artistic Director and is the principal conductor of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. His dynamic leadership of the ASO during the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in state-wide and national visibility for the organization. By overseeing an aggressive shift to virtual offerings of performances and educational content, Robson helped ensure the ASO’s continued success and full employment of all musicians and staff. The orchestra’s online Bedtime with Bach series received nationwide acclaim and was featured by the Washington Post and the Kelly Clarkson Show. During his tenure in Arkansas, he has conducted critically acclaimed and sold-out masterworks, pops, chamber, and educational concerts throughout the state. He frequently collaborates with organizations in the community, such as Ballet Arkansas, Arkansas Children’s Theater, Opera in the Rock, the Chamber Music Society of Little Rock, and many local choral groups. He served on the faculty of Hendrix College from 2018-2021. In 2013-2014 he served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Central Arkansas and conducted the Conway Symphony Orchestra. Robson serves as Artistic Director of the Faulkner Chamber Music Festival, a summer concert series and 10-day intensive chamber music camp that provides a unique immersive experience to music students in central Arkansas in the art of playing chamber music. He has worked with renowned artists such as Gil Shaham, Midori, Rachel Barton Pine, Vadym Kholodenko, Alexander Markov, Mandy Gonzalez, Calvin Lee, and the Beach Boys. He regularly brings emerging world-class talent to Little Rock to entertain audiences and educate and inspire young musicians. A champion of new music, he collaborates with and explores the music of renowned living composers. In 2016, he conducted the premiere of James Stephenson’s Concerto for Hope with celebrated trumpeter Ryan Anthony and the San Juan (Colorado) Symphony. Recently, he conducted the premiere of Into the Beautiful North, by Joe Brent, performed by the trio 9 Horses. He has promoted works by composers with Arkansas connections, such as Jeremy Crosmer and Karen Griebling. Robson is also an orchestral arranger, and his works have been featured in the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra’s pops series concerts on numerous occasions. Additionally, he writes string arrangements for recording artists to assist them in achieving their musical goals in the studio. He also writes and produces At the Symphony, a concert preview radio series on KLRE Classical 90.5 in Little Rock. As a violinist, he frequently performs on the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra’s popular River Rhapsodies chamber music series, often sharing the stage with principal orchestra members.

Member Bio A native of Sarasota, Robert Romanski is a graduate of the University of South Florida with Bachelor’s degrees in both applied music and music education, as well as a Master’s degree in conducting. He has also completed ninety Doctoral Credit Hours toward a PhD in Music Education, also at the University of South Florida. The MVP of Conductors - Romanski is hailed by critics as being the “MVP” of Conductors, able to execute Symphonic Literature, Opera, Ballet, Oratorio, Pops, Band AND Choral Repertoire, with expertise and aplomb. Member Bio Bringing music alive for audiences and sharing its unparalleled value with modern listeners, Suzanne Rome is passionate about conducting a diverse and compelling repertoire. She performs an array of traditional as well as underexplored works, and embraces new works by contemporary composers. Dr. Rome has conducted numerous professional and university orchestras across the United States and Europe. Some engagements have included the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra in the Czech Republic, the University of California Irvine Symphony Orchestra, the Webster University Chamber Orchestra in St. Louis, Missouri, and the Pleven Philharmonic in Bulgaria. She served as an assistant conductor for the Muncie Symphony Orchestra from 2016–2019. She also served as an assistant conductor for the Tony Award winner, Sutton Foster, on her album, Take Me to the World. Dr. Rome was selected as one of three finalists nationwide to participate as a graduate conductor for the 2018 CODA National Conference in California, and was also selected as a Conducting Fellow with the Allentown Symphony Orchestra in Pennsylvania during their 2015–2016 concert season. She is a strong supporter of encouraging the talents of young musicians and has also served as a substitute conductor for the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the Ovation Youth Orchestra with the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Association. Beyond the stage, Dr. Rome has served on music adjudicator panels, curriculum committees, hiring committees, and financial and budget committees. Member Bio Recognized among the premier interpreters of choral music, Dr. Harold Rosenbaum is the founder of The New York Virtuoso Singers (“New York’s outstanding concert choir” - NY Times), and The Canticum Novum Singers (an elite choir” – NY Times). He is the recipient of many awards including Columbia University’s Ditson Conductor’s Award. Other recipients of this award include Mislay Mstislav Rostropovich, Robert Shaw, Leopold Stokowski, Leonard Bernstein, Alan Gilbert, Michael Tilson Thomas, and James Levine. He has conducted countless choirs at Tanglewood, Juilliard, Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, and in other major halls in New York City. Additionally, he has conducted the Orchestra of St. Luke’s and the Brooklyn Philharmonic, and has trained choirs for Sir Charles Mackerras, Robert Spano, Lukas Foss, James Conlon, Ennio Morricone, and many others. He founded The Harold Rosenbaum Choral Conducting Institute, ChoralFest USA, and Virtuoso Choral Recordings. Member Bio David Rosenmeyer is in his tenth season as Music Director of the Fairfield County Chorale, a 100-voice adult chorus based in Norwalk, Connecticut. David rehearses the Chorale and produces three concerts, accompanied by the Fairfield County Orchestra, every season: a holiday-themed concert in December, as well as concerts in March and May. Performances take place at the Norwalk Concert Hall. Past performances of the Fairfield County Chorale under David Rosenmeyer’s direction include Bernstein: A Centennial Celebration, with performances of Chichester Psalms and Make our Garden Grow from Candide, J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, which was performed both in Norwalk as well as with the New Haven Symphony in New Haven, Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Mass in C Minor, Beethoven’s Mass in C, and many more. The planned repertoire for the 2020 December concert was a performance of Handel’s Messiah, a perennial favorite of the Chorale’s patrons. When it became evident that the COVID pandemic would not allow for a live performance, Maestro Rosenmeyer embarked on an ambitious choral adventure with his enthusiastic singers. Weekly rehearsals for the virtual concert, “FCC Presents, Gifts”, airing at 4:00pm on December 20th, 2020 began in September via Zoom. David Rosenmeyer also serves as the Associate Conductor of the prestigious Oratorio Society of New York. He has conducted the Society at Carnegie Hall in performances of Britten’s Te Deum, Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine and Stravinsky’s Mass. David was the chamber orchestra conductor for Britten’s War Requiem. He has also conducted the Society on tour in Hungary, Rome, and Japan. In addition to directing and conducting, David Rosenmeyer is a composer. Recent productions include Maria de Buenos Aires with Bare Opera in which David was both the conductor and the pianist. He also composed Exercises on the presence of Odradek, a new opera commissioned by Bare Opera that premiered online. He has also conducted the American Modern Ensemble and recorded a virtual performance of Messiah, Part 1 with Teatro Grattacielo. David made his debut with the Bellas Opera Company of Mexico City in 2009, leading a staged gala at the Cervantino Festival. From 2003-09, David served as Music Director of the Bach Society of Columbia University. Highlights of his tenure included the New York premiere of Camargo Guarnieri’s Missa Diligite, an evening of music by Robert Cuckson, several world premieres and a staged production of Dido and Eneas. In 2007, he was music director for the famed Salzburg Marionette Theatre’s new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music, which toured the U.S.A. In 2002, David was music director and pianist for the world premiere of The Sandman, an opera by Thomas Cabaniss, directed by David Herskovits in a production by Target Margin Theater. David Rosenmeyer was raised in Argentina and Israel.
