Member Bio Michael Shane Wittenburg is a conductor, pianist, violinist, and organist in the greater NYC area. His current affiliations include the Morris Choral Society, Manhattan Opera Studio, The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera where he serves as Chorus Master, as well as the Elizabeth Faidley Violin Studio in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, and performs regularly either as soloist or collaborative pianist in recitals throughout the U.S., including with Stella Zambalis, Livia Sohn, Mark Walters, Elizabeth Caballero, Michael Corvino, Gerard Reuter, and many others. Member Bio Internationally acclaimed conductor, DIANE WITTRY, was named as one of the "Top 30 Professional Musicians" by Musical America Worldwide and is a frequent guest conductor of orchestras internationally. She has conducted orchestras in 11 countries throughout the world, including China, Poland, Canada, Bosnia, Russia, Slovakia, Japan, and Italy. In the United States, Wittry has led performances by the symphony orchestras of Milwaukee, San Diego, and Santa Barbara, as well as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, and the music festivals of Ojai (CA), Penn’s Woods (PA), and I‐Park (CT). Wittry is currently the Music Director and Conductor of the Allentown Symphony, PA , and the Garden State Philharmonic, NJ. Member Bio San Francisco-based conductor and composer, Jaco Wong embraces his American education while being deeply rooted in his Hong Kong upbringing. In addition to his diverse interest in repertoire ranging from symphonic, operatic, choral to contemporary music, jazz and pop, Wong pushes boundaries of the traditional concert music setting with multidisciplinary projects and innovative ways of exploring topics of science, philosophy, and culture. Wong currently serves as the assistant conductor at Oakland Symphony, where he assisted Mei-Ann Chen, Leonard Slatkin, Joseph Young, among others, and made his professional orchestra conducting debut at the Michael Morgan Memorial Concert. Under the guidance of Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Kensho Watanabe, Wong made his Canada debut conducting the Orchestre symphonique de Québec at Domaine Forget de Charlevoix. Wong has conducted at Mercury Soul, a DJ/ classical music event by Mason Bates, assisted Elim Chan and Dalia Stasevska at San Francisco Symphony, Teddy Abrams at Louisville Orchestra, and Edwin Outwater at the Dr. Phillips Center Steinmetz Hall Opening Celebration, with notable artists including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Jennifer Hudson. Wong has served as assistant conductor for Festival Opera and Prague Summer Nights Music Festival, and made his professional opera company debut with Opera Parallèle conducting Kenji Oh’s The Emissary as their associate conductor and assisting Emmy-winning Lauren Karpman’s Balls at SF Jazz. During Wong’s 6-year tenure as the music director of Pacific Palisades Presbyterian Church, he has directed Handel’s Messiah, Caroline Shaw’s To the Hands, and many other works. Other career highlights include conducting the Taipei Philharmonic, a recording session for Emmy Award-winning composer Jeremy Zuckerman, and participating in the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music as a conducting associate and Monteux Music Festival in New York City. Featured on SF Classical Voice and performed in New World Symphony’s “By Ear: A Journey into Musical Perception”, Wong’s composition Inkling is a multimedia orchestra work with fixed electronics in collaboration with animation artist Evan Tedlock, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and neuroscientist Enrique Vargas, UCSF Sound & Music Perception Lab, premiered at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Commissioned for an interactive installation, Psithaura is a finalist of the American Prize in composition, which has been performed in more than 4 countries and 7 cities, including under the baton of Donald Nally at the Northwestern University New-Music Conference. Wong has previously composed for San Jose Chamber Orchestra, LA Choral Lab’s GPS-enabled Soundwalk, Iris Contemporary Dance Company, Bill T. Jones, Hocket piano duo, Lang Lang, and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. Wong’s music is published by See-A-Dot Music Inc. As an active educator, Wong serves as the Instrumental Music Director of the Harker School, leading its Orchestra to perform in Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Center, and Jazz Band to the Essentially Ellington Festival organized by Jazz at Lincoln Center. Wong is also the resident conductor of the Great Wall Youth Chinese Orchestra, projects including collaboration with pianist Lara Downes in Rhapsody in Blue @ 100 American Kaleidoscope. Wong is the former choral director and musical vocal director of Palisades Charter High School, and has prepared the Esperanza Azteca Youth Chorus to perform with Placido Domingo. Wong holds a Professional Studies Certificate in Orchestral Conducting from San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a double Master’s degree in Music Composition and Choral Conducting from University of Southern California, where he was the recipient of Morten Lauridsen Endowed Scholarship. Member Bio A. Scott Wood is Director of Orchestral Activities at The George Washington University’s Corcoran School of Arts and Design. He is also Music Director and Conductor of the Arlington Philharmonic and the Amadeus Orchestra. The Virginia Commission for the Arts lauded him as “an incredible talent.” In demand as a guest conductor, Maestro Wood recently led the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion in Tel Aviv. He performed with Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated film composer Terence Blanchard and led the Wolf Trap Orchestra with legendary Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle. Other guest appearances have included the Orchestra Society of Philadelphia, the Brevard (North Carolina) Philharmonic, the Rutgers Sinfonia, the University of Houston Orchestra and Chorale (at the Kennedy Center) and the Washington Symphonic Brass. He has collaborated with Bowen-McCauley Dance, conducted the Kennedy Center’s popular Messiah Sing-Along and worked with many choral ensembles, including the Army Chorus, the Navy Sea Chanters, the National Cathedral Singers, the Vienna Choral Society, the Reston Chorale, the Fairfax Choral Society, and Washington National Opera Domingo-Cafritz Young Artists. Sought after as an educator, Wood is the distinguished holder of the Roeckelein Chair in Music at the National Cathedral School and St. Albans School, where he serves as Director of Instrumental Music; the school also awarded him a fellowship in recognition of outstanding teachers and their lifelong impact on students. He has influenced aspiring young musicians in the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and the Shenandoah Valley, Potomac Valley, Chesapeake, Prince William, and D.C. Youth Orchestras, as well as George Mason University’s Potomac Arts Academy. Wood’s work in the area of music education earned him the Fairfax Symphony Serage Award for Music Education. He has been honored by the Arlington branch of the American Association of University Women for his contributions to the arts in Arlington. Maestro Wood has also been engaged as a lecturer for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and National Philharmonic at the Strathmore Performing Arts Center, and has spoken at the Smithsonian Institution, the Goethe-Institut, the Concurso di Canto Lirico in Peru, for Encore Learning, Johns Hopkins University’s OASIS, and the Borders College of Classical Knowledge. He is an advisor to the prestigious Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition—a biennial international event—and a judge for the Washington Area Music Awards (the “Wammies”) and OnStage Korea at the Korean Cultural Center. Member Bio Scott E. Woodard was born in Huntington, WV and is the Music Director of the Butler Philharmonic Orchestra in Hamilton, Ohio, the Founding Music Director and Conductor of the West Virginia State Philharmonic Orchestra of Charleston, WV and the former Cover Conductor of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Dr. Woodard serves as Director of Instrumental Music at West Virginia State University in Institute, WV, where he conducts the Orchestra and teaches the Advanced Conducting Studio. His primary teachers were Dr. Leonid Korchmar of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory of Music and the Mariinsky Theatre, Dr. Oleg Proskuryna, and Dr. Paul A. Balshaw. In 2005 and 2011, Dr. Woodard conducted orchestras of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society and the Mariinsky Theatre in concerts throughout the former Russian capitol. In 2006, he was named First Prize winner of the International Conductor’s Workshop Competition and served as Guest Conductor of the Macon Symphony Orchestra in Macon, GA. In the summer of 2011, Dr. Woodard was awarded First Prize at the International Academy of Advanced Conducting in St. Petersburg and is now a full faculty member of the Academy. Having dedicated over 30 years to teaching and professional conducting, Dr. Woodard is equally comfortable with professional and student ensembles. He is currently in demand as a guest conductor with orchestras across the United States. Dr. Woodard earned Bachelor and Master degrees in Music Education from Marshall University in Huntington, WV. In 2014, he earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University, where his dissertation explored the importance of the Ilya Musin method of conducting. Dr. Woodard lives in Scott Depot, WV with his wife Nafi and their son, Gabriel.
